Packaging design support

  • Review packaging designs, including test and analysis plans, to advise on whether they would satisfy regulatory requirements

SAR preparation and revision support

  • Draft or revise SAR sections incorporating analytical and test results that have been performed

technical review (designs, test plans and reports, analyses, SAR)

  • Review SAR drafts against U.S. and international regulatory requirements and to ensure consistency among the parts

Project management and oversight

  • Provide project management and technical expertise during the package design and development process. This includes helping with make/buy/lease decisions, designing a packaging with an eye on the regulatory requirements, understanding quality requirements, preparing and reviewing test plans, analyses, and SARs, and working with regulators along the way
  • Review a client’s class 7 hazmat training program content against U.S. and international regulations and update as needed to enable the client provide its own training to employees
  • Perform research and investigative studies on different topics related to radioactive material transport;
  • Assess a client’s management systems (i.e., quality assurance) programs against U.S. and international regulatory requirements and advise concerning their compliance, to assist clients in their preparation for inspections and audits, or in their effort to venture into the radioactive material packaging design and manufacturing business.

package licensing assistance (Domestic and international)

  • Assist U.S. licensees with their package licensing needs, be it a new NRC Certificate or a revision to an existing Certificate
  • Assist owners of foreign (to the U.S.) packages in obtaining USDOT Competent Authority Certifications or NRC Certificates of Compliance
  • Assist U.S. licensees in obtaining foreign package validations or special arrangements

understanding the REGULATIONS

  • Provide oral or written briefings for management, commercial and marketing, engineering, or operations on different regulatory issues, including:
    • The package licensing process according to U.S. and/or international transport regulations
    • Similarities and distinctions between the U.S. and IAEA member state regulatory requirements
    • Updates on changes to the U.S. or international transport regulations
